About 30% of the population now suffers at least time to time from insomnia and it is estimated that people now sleep 20% less than they did 100 years ago. Another study showed that out of 49 children who were given various doses of melatonin based on their age group, 93% of them fell asleep a lot quicker.

Nevertheless, it should be emphasized that a person using melatonin from their childhood is more likely to become dependant on it during their lifetime, therefore a parent should do everything possible to help their children cope with sleeping disorders without using medications.
